My Day Looked Like This
1 am: wake up after several hours tossing and turning, with a very bad cold. decide there is no way I am going to work. spend 1 am – 3 am revising lesson plan, printing handouts, etc. so that my colleague can cover my classes while simultaneously teaching hers (no small feat)
3 – 6:30 am: doze, sneeze, toss, turn, curse
6:30 am: email boss, colleagues, help kids get ready for school. it’s 30 degrees outside, wtf?
9:00 am: put dinner in crockpot. try to sleep. stare out window. notice it is snowing (briefly). again, wtf?
12:00 pm: soup. tea. cnn. all bad news. try to work for a while, give up. check to see if i have a fever, but no, temp is subnormal. weird.
3:00 pm: mom calls, she has a flat tire, can’t pick up kids. briefly consider showering and rushing out to get kids. call neighbor to pick them up instead. cough, sneeze.
on the agenda for the evening: shower? brush teeth? supervise homework. make sure kids eat dinner. lesson plans for tomorrow. sleep.
